Join our monthly Seminar Series with topics related to research and teaching along the Sustainable Development Goals.
Research methods often reproduce value systems of the scientists. They may thus perpetuate power imbalances that prevent productive knowledge generation. A session organised by ZEU members at the German Sustainability Science Summit 2021 thus called for a more reflected and multidisciplinary academic education in methods.
Dr. Vladimir Otrachshenko presented his work within the SDGnexus Network at the 34th Annual Conference of the European Society for Population Economics and at the 26th Annual Conference of the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists.
On April 30, 2021, 30 people participated in a SDGnexus Network seminar on the impact of investing on conservation strategies of water sources, water funds, and market mechanisms for development in Latin America.
The SDGnexus Network is hosting a session at the virtual European Geosciences Union (EGU) General Assembly 2021 (vEGU21: Gather Online): Hydrology as a cross-cutting discipline in SDG nexus research.
The SDGnexus Network is going to participate in the upcoming Water Security and Climate Change Conference (WSCC) which will take place online from 1st to 3rd of March 2021. Our resreachers host a session on "Water-Climate-Nexus: Challenges and Opportunities in Mountainous Regions" and present their results in various other sessions.
On January 29, 2021, the SDGnexus Network organized a virtual regional workshop for Latin America. The workshop was chaired by Prof. Dr. Helmut Breitmeier and Dr. Alicia Correa (both JLU Giessen). During the event, more than 40 participants discussed conditions for and prospects of the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Latin America.
Partners from the SDGnexus Network including the Center for International Development and Environmental Research (ZEU) at Justus Liebig University, the University of Central Asia (UCA) and the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanisation Engineers (TIIAME), will hold an online workshop on livestock production in Central Asia on December 4, 2020 to present current work and discuss future collaboration.
