Description:

The aim of the lecture is to familiarize students with the application of financial analysis methods. The focus is on the essential decisions of the CFO of a company such as investment and financing decisions or dividend payout decisions. By means of different case studies and current company events, students should be enabled to grasp relevant decision situations and analyse possible solutions in order to understand the financing strategy of a company. The lecture concludes with a company evaluation and an analysis of possible optimization potentials. In the context of an integrated exercise all lecture elements will be discussed at selected companies. Both capital market-listed and private companies from different countries and industries are considered.

The lecture is complemented by the colloquium Data Processing in Finance & Accounting. This offers an application-oriented introduction to working with the databases available at the department. In addition to the direct reference to the lecture Applied Corporate Finance, it also provides a preparation for empirical work in a master thesis
