Description:

The aim of the lecture is to understand and critically analyze sustainability strategies of companies in their structure and effects. In addition to environmental and social aspects, governance issues are examined in detail and their effects on the company value are considered. In addition to current regulatory developments (EU Action Plan "Financing Sustainable Growth", EU Green Deal), international and cultural differences in the consideration of sustainability are also taken into account.

The lecture is complemented by a colloquium in which practical examples are discussed. These include the sustainability reports of companies or the securities prospectuses of selected sustainable financial products such as green bonds etc.

There is no special application procedure and no capacity limit for this event. Please simply register in StudIP.

 

 

Empirical Methods in Sustainable Finance

Description:

The objective of the lecture is to introduce students to current empirical state-of-the-art methods in economics, with a particular focus on studies in the field of sustainable finance. The lecture places a clear emphasis on microeconometrics, focusing on the intuition behind the methods rather than formal mathematics. Additionally, students will learn the basics of the statistical programming language R in the Tidyverse dialect.

Description:

The aim of the lecture is to familiarize students with the application of financial analysis methods. The focus is on the essential decisions of the CFO of a company such as investment and financing decisions or dividend payout decisions. By means of different case studies and current company events, students should be enabled to grasp relevant decision situations and analyse possible solutions in order to understand the financing strategy of a company. The lecture concludes with a company evaluation and an analysis of possible optimization potentials. In the context of an integrated exercise all lecture elements will be discussed at selected companies. Both capital market-listed and private companies from different countries and industries are considered.
