Erasmus+ Blended Study Trips

• Study trips in the Erasmus+ programme countries can be funded as Erasmus+ blended mobilities, e.g. to participate in a Blended Intensive Programme (BIP). In some cases, practical training or internships at institutions that are not partner universities can also be funded. • Eligible for funding are all participants of a study trip who are enrolled as degree-seeking students at JLU, employed as lecturers or accepted as doctoral candidates. Funding will be provided individually, based on an individual application from each participant.

• Blended study trips can last from 5 to 30 days.

• The study trip must take place at a partner university within the Erasmus+ programme, meaning the prerequisite for the funding is a valid Erasmus+ agreement with the host university (in the relevant field of study).
• The group consists of at least 5 up to at most 25 students and doctoral candidates.
• Students must receive at least 3 ECTS credits for participating in the blended study trip. This must be confirmed by the partner university after the study trip (e.g. by means of a transcript of records).
• Teachers must teach for at least 8 hours per week during the physical stay at the partner university.
• There must be a virtual component before, during or after the study trip, e.g. a collaborative course, an online meeting for preparation/follow-up, etc. (Only the physical stay can be funded).

The following criteria will also be considered during our selection process:

• Imparting subject-related knowledge
• Integration into the curriculum (subject-related preparation and follow-up of the excursion)
• Subject-related activities of the students on site
• Recognition of the activities in the curriculum

• Intercultural preparation and follow-up of the study trip
• Opportunity to meet students and academics from the partner university on site
• Intensification or consolidation of existing collaborations, especially with strategic partners and regions (e.g. EUPeace)
• Use of sustainable options for transportation (outbound and/or return journey, local travel), accommodation, etc.
• Raising additional funds for the implementation of the study trip (e.g. QSL funds)

Eligible for application are university lecturers and academic staff at JLU. Applications from retired university lecturers or employees can only be funded in exceptional cases and up to a maximum of two years after retirement.

Applications for blended study trips can be submitted by e-mail as a single PDF file to europa-aaa@admin.uni-giessen.de.

• Detailed programme description, including a timetable, a description of the content and the cultural preparation and follow-up of the study trip (1-3 pages)
• Confirmation from the Erasmus+ partner university stating the number of participants, confirming acceptance as a blended mobility and specifying the intended number of ECTS (e.g. by e-mail)
• List of participants and accompanying person(s), including e-mail addresses
• Financing plan with an overview of the planned expenditure and other funds raised (institute, QSL etc.)

Once the documents have been submitted, all applications will be reviewed and evaluated based on the above-mentioned selection criteria. After a preliminary approval for funding of the blended study trip, students will be contacted by the Mobility Team and must register for individual funding as a blended mobility in the Erasmus+ programme. Accompanying staff participating in training or staff mobility must submit their individual applications by the same application deadline (see deadline und application process). Once you receive a conditional acceptance, you may proceed with your travel plans.

• August 1 for stays between October and December
• November 1 for stays between January and March
• February 1 for stays between April and June
• May 1 for stays between July and September
