My research focuses on digital archaeology as well as on (inter)medial constellations and questions of materiality within visual culture studies. It examines historical configurations of perception and visual regimes in processes of cultural and historical transformation, with particular emphasis on transmedial phenomena and representational strategies.
Methodologically, I combine approaches from visual culture studies with digital and empirical methods, including 3D modelling, virtual reality, and eye-tracking technologies. These methods are used to investigate perceptual and interactive environments, as well as for digital reconstruction and educational applications.
In both research and teaching, I pursue an interdisciplinary approach at the intersection of the humanities, cultural studies, and technological and empirical methodologies.
I studied Classical Archaeology and German Literature at Justus Liebig University Giessen, where I completed both my B.A. and M.A. degrees. In 2019, I received my doctorate with a dissertation on intermedially configured Roman mosaics, which was awarded the Dr. Dieter and Sigrun Neukirch Prize. My doctoral research was supported, among other funding sources, by a scholarship from the International Graduate Centre for the Study of Culture (GCSC), whose interdisciplinary environment played a key role in shaping my research profile. During my studies, I was already actively involved in research and teaching and gained practical experience in museum and heritage contexts.
Since 2019, I have been continuously engaged in research and teaching in Classical Archaeology as well as in the interdisciplinary Liberal Arts & Sciences programme, initially as a postdoctoral researcher and, since 2021, as a lecturer. My work combines questions from cultural and visual studies with the development of digital and experimental formats for research, teaching, and museum education.
As coordinator of the QuiS_FlexMeta project, initiated and funded by the Hessian Ministry of Higher Education, Research and the Arts, I supported cross-institutional innovation processes aimed at increasing the flexibility of academic structures. In this context, I developed and implemented a design thinking–based card set for the creation of innovative degree programmes and teaching formats.
A central focus of my work is the systematic integration of disciplinary research, technology-driven innovation, and the structural development of higher education teaching. Particular emphasis is placed on new forms of knowledge transfer, the acquisition of methodological competencies, and future-oriented study formats.
