Modes of Perception in the Late Classical and Early Hellenistic Periods
In contrast to the historical and historiographical break marked by the death of Alexander the Great in 323 BC, the changes in perception in art and literature cannot be pinpointed as clearly. This project investigates the gradual shift from the Late Classical period to the Early Hellenistic period, focusing on the underlying dispositions for perception during these transitions. The research adopts a cross-media approach grounded in cultural studies, with particular emphasis on phenomena that can be identified as valid transmedial strategies of representation. These elements are understood as components of specific dispositions that interact reciprocally.
