A new high-pressure powder diffraction cell for soft materials

Researchers from the group of Prof. Dr. Gregor Kieslich at the Department of Chemistry, Justus Liebig University Giessen, have developed a custom-built high-pressure powder X-ray diffraction cell capable of probing pressures up to 8,000 bar (0.8 GPa) with increments as fine as 50 bar. The cell will be a cornerstone instrument for investigating the mechanical properties and long-term stability of materials, research themes at the heart of a sustainability-driven agenda.
