Welcome to the pages of the Working Group Special Educational Psychology!
At the heart of our work is the question of how self-regulation, learning, and development of students can be best supported in everyday school life. We focus in particular on individual learning prerequisites and their short-term fluctuations — for example in attention — as well as on the question of how learning environments and instructional offerings can be designed adaptively. A particular emphasis is placed on supporting students with self-regulation difficulties, for instance in the context of ADHD.
Our working group combines research, university teaching, and transfer into school practice. A special focus in our teaching lies on the training of prospective special education teachers. Our research examines learning and developmental processes under conditions as close to everyday life as possible, and aims to make scientific findings accessible to schools, teacher education, and the general public — for example through collaborations with schools, lectures, podcasts, and media outreach.
