Fascism is often seen as a specter of the past. Yet authoritarian movements are gaining influence worldwide, democratic institutions are coming under pressure, political violence is being spoken of openly, and exclusion is becoming normalized. But is this already fascism? Or are we witnessing new forms of authoritarian rule that differ from their historical counterparts?
