Internship

From WS 2024/25, it will be possible to complete at least one internship in all Faculty 02 degree programs. The Dean's Office is responsible for the module and the administration is carried out entirely by the internship administration of the Examination Office without the involvement of the chairs. Therefore, please send all inquiries regarding internships directly by e-mail to the Internship Administration.
 
The regulations outlined here will apply from WS 24/25. Until then, the previous regulations will continue to apply.

Please note that due to the high demand, the earliest we will be able to enter your credits in flexnow is the end of January/beginning of February 2025. We therefore ask you to refrain from any queries in this regard and for your understanding and patience.

  • The specified duration of the internship refers to full-time employment (min. 35 h/week). In the case of part-time employment, the duration of the internship is extended accordingly.
  • The module Internship 3 can only be taken if the modules Internship 1 and 2 are not taken. 
  • Internships must always be completed in a professional field and area that matches the degree program. 
  • Examination in all internship modules: Internship report (1-2 pages, ungraded).
  • Equivalent professional activities (e.g. student employee) can be recognized.

Procedure

  • Students look for an internship on their own and complete the internship.
  • After completing the internship, students prepare a short internship report and submit it to the internship administration of the by e-mail (praktikum) no later than 4 weeks after the end of the internship. Please use our template for the internship report. In addition to the internship report, the internship contract must also be submitted. Confidential information (e.g. salary) may be blacked out.
  • Once the internship report and the internship contract have been submitted, they will be graded as pass/fail and entered in FlexNow.

Consultation

It is not necessary to have your internship approved before you start. If you are unsure whether your internship matches the professional field of your degree program, you can have this checked in advance by the internship administration. To do this, send the internship contract and a description of the internship (company, field of activity and duration) by e-mail to the Internship Office. Inquiries without an internship contract and a description of the internship cannot be answered.

Recognition of equivalent professional activity   

Equivalent professional activities can be recognized for internship modules. These can be, for example

  • Student employee
  • Periods of full-time or part-time employment before your studies
  • Periods of full-time or part-time employment during your studies

Recognition must be applied for and checked individually in each case. Please submit the following documents by e-mail to the internship administration (praktikum): 

  • Proof of employment and activity (e.g. employment reference, employment contract)
  • Reflection report of the activity (1-2 pages), please use the template for the reflection report.
