Background
Tree rows of AFS may lead to:
- Heterogeneity and environmental gradients in nutrients and humidity
- Habitats and unsuitable patches for organisms
- Influence of biotic interactions, e.g. plant-fungal symbiosis, rhizosphere interactions, predator-prey encounters, pollination
- Changes in the spatial distribution of organisms in the landscape due to different dispersal abilities in the environment
Objectives
- Understanding biodiversity in agroforestry systems
- evaluate biodiversity gradients from tree rows into adjacent crop fields
- in the spatial complexity of ecological communities
- in biodiversity-associated NCP indicators
