- The Idea

What the Info Hub Contains
The GCSC/IPP Info Hub is designed as a new asynchronous format deriving from the former GCSC/IPP Info Day. With this new design we hope to provide a reliable tool to come back to during the application process – a platform where you can inform yourself according to your own needs and at your own pace.
The GCSC/IPP Info Hub consists of both video material and supplementary documents that are designed to inform you about the GCSC, the study programme and research environment, and the application processes at the GCSC and IPP. It also offers information for international prospects about the additional funding scheme made available by the DAAD’s Graduate School Scholarship Programme (GSSP). You find more information about the memberships and scholarships starting in October 2024 here for the GCSC and here for the IPP. Please also refer to our FAQs for the GCSC application process and the IPP application procedure.
The online material of the Info Hub is complemented by two live Q&A sessions in which you have the opportunity to ask individual questions about the application at the GCSC and PP. Since these are two separate processes, we also offer two separate Q&A sessions. You may of course participate in both. The live Q&As will take place on January 11, 2024, and are scheduled for 2 pm (CET) for the GCSC; and 3 pm (CET) for the IPP. Both sessions are online meetings and will take place via BigBlueButton. Registration via the online form is required.
Moreover, the Info Hub provides a framework for your participation in individual consultation with professors of Justus Liebig University (JLU). These consultations will be possible in the three weeks of January 8 to January 26, 2024. If you are interested in an individual consultation, we, however, strongly advise you to arrange this appointment before the winter break (December 22, 2023, the latest). - Live Q&A Sessions

The live Q&A Sessions on January 11, 2024, give you the opportunity to pose individual questions. Hence, if there are any issues or problems that you are running into concerning the application process at the GCSC and/or IPP, this is the space to address these.
We have scheduled one Q&A sessions for each application process, and you are welcome to join each. The Q&A for the GCSC will take place at 2 pm (CET) on January 11. The Q&A for the IPP is scheduled for 3 pm (CET) on January 11.
If you are interested in participating at one or both of the live Q&A sessions on January 11, 2024, please register until January 8, 5 pm (CET).
The meeting links for each Q&A session will be sent to everyone who is registered by January 10th.
- Individual Consultation Hours

Within the framework of the GCSC/IPP Info Hub, you have the chance to arrange an individual consultation with up to two professors or potential supervisors of JLU to talk about your dissertation project or supervision structures. Previous attendees of the former GCSC Information Day have always very much appreciated this opportunity.
You can schedule your individual consultations for the second to fourth calendar week of 2024, from January 8 to January 26, 2024. You find a list of professors who will be available for consultations below. Some have indicated that they are only available at a specific date and time, others could, in principle, offer several free slots throughout the week and will let you know about their availability once you have contacted them.
Please reach out for arranging your individual consultation until December 22, 2023.
Before you start reaching out, there are a couple of things to pay attention to when you are contacting them:
- You may contact up to two potential professors/supervisors of JLU for a consultation.
- You have to contact each professor/supervisor individually until December 22, 2023 at the latest.
- When contacting, please refer to the Info Hub by using the subject <<GCSC Info Hub – Individuelle Sprechstunde>> or in English <<GCSC Info Hub – Individual Consultation>>.
- Please provide the professors/supervisors with some information about yourself, e.g., your previous studies, your dissertation project, etc.
- In general, the allotted time for a consultation is 20 minutes. Some professors/supervisors might suggest talking a bit longer.
- The session itself will be conducted either via a webroom like BigBlueButton, telephone or for those available in Giessen also in-person at the JLU campus. This is up to the professors’/supervisors’ preferences.
