The Plasma Rocket Company
Project: Miniaturized High-frequency generator
Location of the Position: Giessen
General Information:
Full-time project preferred.
E.g. external internship, "Berufspraktische Phase" (BPP), Master's thesis. A combination is also possible.
Alternatively also as part-time project.
E.g. large project work
Combinations of e.g. practical phase and Master's thesis are possible.
Handheld device: As part of an ESA-funded project, our aim is now to modify this electric space propulsion technology for an earth application. The aim of the project is to use the conceptual structure of the Helios two-stage ionization system as the basis for a hand-held device for surface treatment and sterilization with plasma under atmospheric conditions.
Project: The content of the project is to develop a miniaturized high-frequency generator for the hand-held device based on existing circuits and prototypes. The work includes:
- Dimensioning and simulation of the circuit
- Preparation of the circuit diagram and circuit board layout
- Construction/design of the mechanical and thermal interface
- Preparation of the order documents and support during the ordering process
- Electrical and mechanical assembly
- Testing and commissioning of the circuit and later of the complete system:
- Mechanical
- Electrical
- Plasma physics
The overall project consists of components that are assigned to different sub-disciplines of physics and technology, such as mechanical construction, electrotechnical coil construction, cabling and insulation as well as the design of the gas system. The scope of the project work is the provision of the high-frequency generator.
Skills (ideally):
- Very good understanding of analog technology and power electronics
- Good understanding of layouting; especially with regard to parasitic layout properties
- Ability to work independently
- Familiarity with a layout program (preferably Eagle)
- Knowledge of electrical and mechanical designs
- Manual skills
Start date: as soon as possible
