Stadttheater Gießen

Stadttheater Gießen (Giessen City Theater) is one of the cultural centers in Central Hesse. On two stages - in the Great House and in the taT, the "theater am Theater" on Berliner Platz - Stadttheater Gießen offers opera, musical, operetta, plays and modern dance theatre. It collaborates with the universities of Giessen, Frankfurt, and Offenbach and other theaters as part of the Hessian Theater Academy and maintains good contacts with organizers and associations in Giessen.

In collaboration with Stadttheatre Gießen, the Panel organizes a series of events under the headline “The Parliament for the Future” which kick started on September 25, 2023 with a refreshing lecture and discussion by Claus Leggewie (Director of the Panel on Planetary Thinking) on the topic “Before practice comes theory, or: Who sits in the parliament of things?”. The series will culminate in the end of the summer term 2024. A range of different events, such as lectures, discussion rounds, city exhibitions, sustainable cooking nights, and a performative piece are in the making.
