HDM-Certificat
The Network for Teaching and Learning Development Mittelhessen (HDM) is a cooperation established in 2007 between Justus Liebig University Giessen (JLU), Philipps University Marburg (UMR), and the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen (THM).
What can you expect?
HDM offers a higher education teaching und learning qualification program "Skills for Professional Higher Education Teaching" enabling you to further develop your teaching skills and to obtain the nationally recognized certificate Certificate Higher Education Teaching in Hesse, which can serve as a valuable career development tool.
You can expect a demanding program aligned with national quality standards for higher education didactics training. It is available free of charge to all teaching staff at the three partner universities.

… an individualized and tailored pathway to earning a certificate through:

a wide range of higher education didactics courses and workshops led by highly qualified teachers

various advisory and consultation services, which you can use, for example, to reflect on your teaching or to support the implementation of innovative teaching projects

opportunities for exchange and networking with other teachers

orientation toward the guidelines of the German Society for Higher Education Didactics (DGHD), which are aligned with national quality standards Deutschen Gesellschaft für Hochschuldidaktik (DGHD)
Is there a certificate?
The certificate “Foundations of Higher Education Didactics” comprises 120 units of work (UW), each lasting 45 minutes. The HDM certificate “Skills for Professional Higher Education Teaching” (a total of 200 UW) builds on this foundation. An additional 80 UW must be completed through workshops, a teaching development project, and a teaching portfolio.
