Cross-institute and cross-departmental use of plant research facilities

More than 30 walk-in climate chambers, climate cabinets and several greenhouse facilities

More than 20 walk-in climate chambers for plant experiments under controlled conditions are located in the iFZ biotechnology building in the immediate vicinity of the iFZ laboratories. An adjacent building is equipped for experiments in climate chambers. There are also several shared research greenhouse facilities on the campus and at the field trial stations.

The iFZ's climate chamber facility has been successively retrofitted with customized LED light ceilings over the last few years. These modules achieve the illuminance required for the experiments at a third of the power consumption. Comparable energy savings are achieved in the greenhouses with a specially developed LED-based conversion kit for the conventional existing lights.
