Who is eligible?

Employees and students from these faculties: 

• Faculty 07 (however only Geography)
• Faculty 08
• Faculty 09

Employees from here:

• Department E in the central administration
• The central department of the technical operating units
• The Center for International Development and Environmental Research

For authentication, the authorized persons must provide proof that they are members of the relevant institutions or departments. This is usually done using a valid university email address for the participating departments.

How do I get my license?

Employees and students of the departments entitled to receive the license information on request via HRZ license management. Please use your university e-mail address (of the authorized department or administrative area) for the request.

How long is a license valid?

The licenses in the current framework agreement always run until the end of February. The licenses have a 4-week grace period so that they can be used until the end of March. If the contract is extended, the keys for the new license period will be available during February and can be obtained from the HRZ. The HRZ always provides information about the availability of new keys in the 'News' section on the HRZ homepage.

Which product versions are available?

The latest product versions of ArcGIS Desktop (ArcMap) and ArcGIS Pro are always available, as well as a legacy version as a rule.

Which individual products are included in the 'ESRI ArcGIS package'?

In addition to the main application, ArcGIS Deskop Student includes the following extensions:

3D Analyst, Geostatistical Analyst, Network Analyst, Publisher, Schematics, Spatial Analyst, Tracking, Analyst, Data Interoperatibilty, Data Reviewer, Workflow Manager

For which operating systems is the ESRI ArcGIS software available?

• Windows: Full product range
• Linux: only ArcGIS Enterprise (server)

How and where can I obtain installation files?

The download information is available on request from the HRZ license management.

Can I install ESRI ArcGIS on multiple computers?

You can install ESRI ArcGIS on a work computer.
The home use option also allows private, non-commercial use by authorized users.

Can I also run ESRI ArcGIS as a network license?

You can also operate ESRI ArcGIS as a network license. To do this, you need a special concurrent user license for the number of network workstations you require. Please contact HRZ license management.

For what purposes may I use the software?

The use is permitted exclusively in a non-commercial context and exclusively for the fulfillment of the legal tasks of the universities (usually use in research, teaching, studies, promotion of young scientists, knowledge transfer).
