Who is eligible?

In principle, employees of the University of Giessen are entitled to purchase licenses at reduced rates. However, the licenses can only be purchased once a year as a demand-oriented license contingent must be ordered.

Unfortunately, students are not entitled to purchase licenses and are dependent on specialist retailers.

An exception is Faculty 11 Medicine, which has taken out a faculty license for SAS software. Employees and students can use the software here.

 How much does a license cost?

How and where can I purchase a license?

To obtain a license, employees should contact or use the application form provided on the HRZ website. Members of Faculty 11 Medicine can apply for a license here. (Registration with HRZ user ID required. Other departments are not eligible for Faculty 11 licenses.)

Which product versions are available?

The current version is 9.4 (M8).

Which modules are available under the current agreement?

In the current contract, the modules Base SAS, Clinical Standards Toolkit, FSP, ACCESS (Interface to ODBC), ACCESS (Interface to PC Files), GRAPH, IML, and STAT are available, although not all current licensees have the same number of modules.

Additional modules can be requested individually from the manufacturer for a (sometimes considerable) surcharge.

All modules are included in the FB11 Medicine faculty license.

How long is a license valid?

These are annual licenses. The current license period currently begins on November 1 and ends on October 31 of the following year.

For which operating systems can SAS be provided?

Microsoft Windows.

How and where can I obtain installation files?

You will receive an email from the HRZ with your license, as well as information on downloading and installation.

Can I install SAS on several computers?

No.

Are there public PC workstations of the HRZ with SAS at JLU?

No.
