Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP)
Within the Erasmus+ programme generation 2021 - 2027, jointly designed and implemented teaching activities with at least two other European higher education institutions are eligible for funding. On the one hand, financial support can be applied to implement a Blended Intensive Programme (BIP); on the other hand, participation in a BIP can be funded as an Erasmus+ blended study trip.
Framework
- Programme Coordination: University staff (= lead within the faculty)
- Jointly designed programme involving teaching staff from other universities
- Open to all disciplines and all levels of study
- Involvement of at least 2 further partner universities from two different Erasmus+ programme countries (excluding Germany, the UK, and Switzerland)
- Universities from Erasmus+ partner countries optional (funding still unclear)
- Duration: 5–30 days of physical mobility, excluding travel days
- Mandatory virtual component: before, during, or after the mobility, collaborative online learning, exchange, and teamwork, simultaneous completion as part of the learning objectives
- For a project to be eligible for funding, at least 10 mobile learners (students/doctoral candidates and/or staff for training purposes) plus teaching staff are required (min. 3 ECTS for students/doctoral candidates)

Once all applications have been reviewed and approved by the International Office, your BIP will be taken into account when applying for Erasmus+ funding from the National Agency DAAD. Upon successful approval (expected in June), the requested BIPs can be implemented in the following academic year (October to September of the subsequent year).
Projects that address the transversal objectives of the Erasmus+ programme, including participation in democratic life, digital transformation, the environment, sustainability, climate change mitigation, and inclusion and diversity, are in particular eligible for funding. The goal of a BIP is to consciously internationalize teaching through jointly designed learning units and to create added value for learners and teaching staff. For this purpose, collaboration with alliance partners of the European University for Peace, Justice and Inclusive Societies (EUPeace) will have a positive impact on the evaluation.
