Doctoral Students

While the phase of doing one’s doctorate principally promotes subject-specific progression, it also serves the purpose of career orientation. Therefore, doctoral candidates shall become qualified for conducting academic research as well as career paths outside of the university. In order to reach this goal and in order for the doctoral students to consider their own professional goals, the doctoral studies phase supports and demands independence as well as self-responsibility.

Regarding the group of doctoral students, Justus Liebig University has developed an ideal goal profile which is closely oriented towards the overarching human resource development goals “competence” and “motivation”. JLU accompanies and supports doctoral students by providing specific developmental offers and supporting structures that are focused on graduation goal attainment.

The detailed goal profile as well as further information concerning the supporting offers can be found in chapter three of the Human Resource Development strategy. You will find the entire Human Resource Development strategy here (only available in German).
