Teaching
As a teacher my aim is to foster an environment that promotes curiosity and enthusiasm in my students. I strive to create a stimulating environment by challenging and supporting students in their learning with three main goals; for them to (1) understand foundational concepts of biology, (2) develop problem solving strategies and formulate research questions, (3) build confidence, accountability, and collaborative work ethics. I understand teaching as a two-way process, in which I, as teacher, also commit to life-long learning and leading my classes by example.
Several Modules at B.Sc. and M.Sc. level are hosted or co-organized by the Marine Holobiomics Group. For more information on studying biology at JLU, check out this image video:
Students conducting their Final thesis projects with us will be involved in ongoing research projects at both B.Sc. and M.Sc. level. Please check the list of current projects and also get in touch with Prof. Dr. Maren Ziegler if you would like to discuss your own ideas.
Prof. Maren Ziegler received the First Prize of the Award for implementing AI-supported teaching/learning scenarios at JLU in 2025.
