Department 04 History and Cultural Studies awards the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Doctor philosophiae – Dr. phil.) to candidates who have successfully completed a doctoral dissertation and oral examination. The doctoral degree attests to an advanced level of independent academic research and scholarly expertise beyond a university degree. The doctoral regulations for the humanities can be found here.
