Committee Coordination
-
The Senate, as a significant central university body under the Hessian Higher Education Act (HessHG), is supported organizationally and substantively in its work by the administrative management.
In addition, the JLU Research Council strengthens the participatory strategy development process at JLU and is supported in its work by the Staff Division Research (and Graduate Studies). The focus here is on the early involvement of key stakeholders—particularly outstanding researchers—in university-wide development processes.
Another area of responsibility includes supporting the Senate committees. The Senate Committee on “Security-Relevant Research” evaluates research projects with a potential dual-use character—i.e., projects that could be used for both civilian and military purposes. The Permanent Commission for Ensuring Good Scientific Practice acts upon request from the Ombudsperson and is responsible for investigating allegations of scientific misconduct.

JLU members receive advice and support on questions such as:
- What roles do the Senate, the Research Council, and the Senate Committees fulfill?
- Which specific issues are the committees currently addressing?
- How can researchers actively participate in JLU’s strategy development process?
- Which governance structures support research management at the university?
