Composition of the Study Programme

What can I expect from this programme?

The Bachelor's degree programme in Business Administration includes the areas of strategic management, entrepreneurship, leadership, marketing, banking, finance, accounting, controlling, taxes or data economics and places great emphasis on sustainability.

What will I learn?

The programme links theory directly with practice. Students can get involved in research themselves through projects and tackle real business problems. The content is always practice-orientated. This teaches you how to use scientific methods to overcome real challenges.

You also have the opportunity to establish important connections through case studies, guest lectures by experts and events such as career fairs. Regular dialogue with experts from business and politics as well as guest lecturers from the field will ensure that you gain an insight into the world of work and are optimally prepared for your future.

What skills and interests should I have?

To successfully complete a degree in business administration, you primarily need an interest in economic issues, but also in (social) policy issues. The complex thought and modelling structures also require analytical thinking and good communication skills. Personal initiative and self-organisation facilitate the success of your studies. IT skills and the ability to work in a team are also advantageous. Good English skills are helpful, as much of the specialised literature is written in English.

How is the programme structured?

The programme comprises two study phases, each consisting of different modules:

There is no obligation to take a minimum number of modules from the fields of business studies or economics. Instead, the entire profile minor can be taken as a minor subject or filled with cross-sectional modules.

As part of the profile minor, students can take an internship (12 CP) or two internships (6 CP each), modules from the fields of business administration, economics, methods, cross-sectional modules from Faculty 02, a project module and modules from other faculties. Only the work placement and the project modules can be taken ungraded. All other modules are graded.

Academic Work (18 CP)

As part of the academic work block, the rules of good academic practice are taught in a proseminar and independent discussion of economic topics is encouraged. The Bachelor's thesis is also part of this study block.

  • The proseminar and the Bachelor's thesis are supervised by the Business Administration professorships and the Economics professorships of the faculty with a strong methodological focus. At the request of the students, supervision can also be provided by other economics professors.
  • A centralised allocation procedure ensures that all students receive a place with one of the above-mentioned professorships in the desired semester.
