Janek, Jürgen

Physical Chemistry of Solids and Solid State Ionics

The research group of Prof. Janek works in the field of Physical Chemistry of Solids, more specifically in solid-state electrochemistry, solid-state reactions and atomic transport processes. Special research interests of the group are the kinetics of ion transport in bulk and interfaces, the kinetics of solid-state reactions, degradation and ageing phenomena of functional materials for electrochemical technologies, electro-chemomechanical coupling, thermoelectric effects and diffusion-controlled processes, materials and concepts for batteries and fuel cells. The research group operates a number of solid-state analytical instruments (XPS/UPS, HRSEM, ToF-SIMS, in situ XRD) in combination with electrochemical methods.
