Abstract:
The seminar will cover recent advances in the field of molecular switches and machines, and will focus on mechanically interlocked systems, in addition to simpler systems such as azobenzene and hydrazone switches. The talks will explore the synthesis, and characterization of such systems, in addition to their use in molecular electronics, drug delivery systems, and actuators, among other applications. We will also focus on the current potentials of, and challenges in the field, and how these functional materials are being currently used in developing processes that are governed by non-equilibrium thermodynamics.
