DE: KREUZSTICH GELEE Eine performative Rauminstallation zum Idealbild der Hausfrau Der Kreuzstich ist ein Zierstich aus zwei, sich schräg kreuzenden, einzelnen Stichen. Das Wort Gelee wurde vom französischen gelée entlehnt und geht zurück auf das lateinische gelare für „gefrieren“ oder „zum Erstarren bringen“ und bezeichnet Lebensmittel mit gallertartiger Konsistenz. Eine Sofaecke, eine Küchenzeile, ein gesticktes Glossar. Das Rühren der Geliermasse, ihr Guss in eine kleine Form. Eine Treppe mit Étagèren, ein paar Plastikblumen, eine fragende Wand. Wie hat sich das Idealbild der Hausfrau mit der Zeit entwickelt? Wie prägt es unsere Gesellschaft noch (oder gerade) heute? Was wurde uns durch unsere Mütter und Großmütter vermittelt? Wie beeinflusst uns der Content von Tradwives auf Social-Media? Welche Ideen und Lebensmodelle wollen wir an die nächsten Generationen vererben? Ein Zettel im Wackelpudding. Eine Antwort? Die Ausstellung verhandelt Fragen an das Idealbild der Hausfrau anhand einer Rauminstallation, in der eine Person durchgehend performt. Zusätzlich sind persönliche Erfahrungen, Gedanken und Bezüge zum Thema von Menschen verschiedener Generationen aus Gießen zu hören. Neben Wackelpudding gibt es für alle, die Lust haben, einen kleinen Raum für Austausch und eigene Fragen. Atelier trafo (Bismarckstraße 9, 35390 Gießen) der Raum ist leider nicht barrierefrei Eintritt ist frei.

EN: CROSS-STITCH JELLY A performative spatial installation on the ideal image of the housewife The cross-stitch is a decorative stitch consisting of two individual stitches that cross at an angle. The word jelly was borrowed from the French gelée and goes back to the Latin gelare, meaning “to freeze” or “to cause to solidify,” and refers to foods with a gelatinous consistency. A sofa corner, a kitchenette, an embroidered glossary. Stirring the jelly mixture, pouring it into a small mold. A staircase with étagères, a few plastic flowers, a questioning wall. How has the ideal image of the housewife evolved over time? How does it still (or especially) shape our society today? What did our mothers and grandmothers teach us? How does the content of Tradwives on social media influence us? What ideas and models of life do we want to pass on to the next generations? A note in the jelly. An answer? The exhibition addresses questions about the ideal image of the housewife through a room installation in which one person performs continuously. In addition, personal experiences, thoughts, and references to the topic from people of different generations from Giessen can be heard. In addition to jelly, there is a small room for exchange and questions for anyone who is interested.
