CHE University ranking
The CHE Ranking is a German university ranking. It looks at overall facts as well as personal evaluations from both students and professors. Additionally, CHE runs surveys on specific topics relevant to the quality of study each year.

THE World University Ranking
The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Ranking evaluates universities based on various criteria in teaching & research, knowledge transfer, third-party funding from industry and internationality. The evaluation also includes surveys on reputation, citations and the student-teacher ratio. More than 1,904 universities worldwide took part in the 2024 ranking, including 52 from Germany.

- Best courses of study: Psychology (201-250); Medicine, Teaching Degree, Life Science (all 251-300), Arts & Humanities, Physical Sciences (all 301-400)
QS Ranking
The World University Ranking published annually by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) lists 1,422 universities in 2025, including 46 German universities. The parameters focus on reputation and academic performance. Only the first 500 universities are assessed and ranked individually, after which they are categorized into groups.

Shanghai Ranking
The Academic Ranking of World Universities (known as the ‘Shanghai Ranking’) focuses on the area of research (high-ranking research awards, publications and citations). In 2023, the best 1,000 of a total of 2,500 universities analysed were published.
