Abstract:

Catalysis offers the single most broadly applicable method to ensure synthetic chemistry becomes sustainable on a resource critical world.  These lectures will discuss recent advances in catalysis using earth abundant elements and non-metal catalysts.  Transformations of industrial and synthetic use will be used to highlight possible advantages and disadvantages, and discuss mechanistic understanding and analytical techniques relevant to first row transitions metals.
