Teaching concept

The Chair's understanding of teaching is based on several years of experience in the development and application of teaching/learning arrangements. It is characterized by:

• close cooperation with business practice and the integration of research results into teaching
• the development and testing of research-based learning concepts that specifically introduce students to scientific research and work through self-directed, cooperative forms of learning
• innovative teaching formats with which students can establish links between their studies and the "real world" in business and society

Examples of this are:

• the integration of teaching case studies and materials as well as guest speakers and guest lecturers into the modules
• the cooperative development of practical studies on the agricultural and food sector in the teaching context, such as the study "Organic Sector on Mallorca", commissioned by a Mallorcan agribusiness group and the environmental NGO APAEMA, including a student project presentation at the Biofach in Nuremberg
• Online teaching projects such as "DastuWas!Semester - Gemeinwohl säen" ("DoSomething! term- sowing for the common good", in which students supported businesses in the organic sector (market garden, farm store, organic food store) as well as associations and educational institutions (edible city, Orchard Association, schools) during the corona pandemic and reflected on the principles and possibilities of economcy for the common good oriented business and sustainable forms of nutrition in a blog
• Service learning seminars, such as the first service learning seminar on accounting of agricultural and food businesses in Hesse according to the Economy for the Common Good
• Education and action programs such as the 100-day foodoctopia-Initiative during documenta 14 to promote inquisitive and critical attitudes towards regional and global food systems
• One-day or multi-day excursions on the topic of "From Farm to Fork", within Germany or abroad (Italy and Spain)
