We provide members of the GGK and GCSC with information on possible sources of funding for the PhD and shorter-term endeavours.
GCSC Travel Grants
Doctoral candidates who have been members of the GCSC for at least 3 months are eligible to apply for reimbursement of travel expenses. Find all information and the application deadlines here!

IPP Travel Grants
All doctoral candidates with full IPP member status are entitled to apply for reimbursement of their travel expenses for conference and research trips in Germany and abroad.
Editorial Support
If you are a non-native speaker of German or English and writing your dissertation in one of these languages or in the language of your academic discipline, you are eligible to apply for up to 500 Euros for editorial support by a native speaker to proofread your thesis.

Dr.-Herbert-Stolzenberg-Award for the Study of Culture
Giessen University’s International Graduate Centre for the Study of Culture (GCSC), funded by the German federal government’s Excellence Initiative from 2007 until 2019, offers a three-year structured PhD programme in the study of culture.
