About Dr. Volker Maiwald
Volker Maiwald works at the Institute of Space Systems in Bremen. In the Space Segment Systems Analysis Department, his work focuses on the feasibility, costs, and benefits of future space systems and concepts, calculates trajectories, and plans habitats for isolated or harsh environments.
Talk: The Long Road to Mars
Mars has been aimed at for human exploration for decades, yet the road to reach it is indeed long and requires many careful steps. This talk will present developments towards this goal within the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and take a look at the status of current scenarios for reaching the Martian surface. Which obstacles are still to be faced? What are issues of sustainability that need to be solved?
