On 01.10.2024 and 02.10.2024, the working group ‘Ion Thrusters’ of Prof. Klar organised a workshop on ‘Air-Breathing Electric Propulsion’ (ABEP) at the JLU, which was supported by the GGN.
On June 26, 2025, the Giessen Graduate Center for Natural Sciences and Psychology (GGN) and the Center for Materials Research (ZfM) of Justus Liebig University Giessen celebrated their joint summer event. In addition to university members, companies from Mittelhessen were invited to foster exchange between research, industry, and young talents.
On the 29th and 30th of September 2025, the research group "Ionentriebwerke" led by Prof. Dr. Peter Klar held its second workshop on "Air-Breathing Electric Propulsion" at the JLU, supported by the GGN. The event brought together experts from various institutions to discuss the latest challenges and solutions in Air-Breathing Electric Propulsion (ABEP) for Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO) applications. The aim was to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and inspire new research and development in this field.
From August 18 to August 20, 2025, the workshop “Plasma Diagnostics for Electric Propulsion Systems” took place at Justus Liebig University Giessen, supported by the GGN. The event aimed to strengthen collaboration between research and industry, promote the standardization of diagnostic methods, and foster interdisciplinary exchange in the field of electric space propulsion.
The 1.5-day workshop on "Large Language Models (LLMs) in Brain Research" on October 27 and 28, 2025, brought together leading researchers in computational cognitive neuroscience and artificial intelligence. Elaheh Akbari and Giacomo Aldegheri have organized the workshop with support of the Giessen Graduate Center for Natural Sciences and Psychology (GGN). The event fostered rich interdisciplinary dialogue, facilitated meaningful collaborations, and advanced collective understanding of how LLMs and vision-language models relate to brain function, neural representation, and cognitive processes.
On 10–11 November 2025, the Justus Liebig University Giessen hosted the workshop "AI in Materials Science: From Data to Discovery", organized by Dr. Janis K. Eckhardt with support from the Giessen Graduate Center for Natural Sciences and Psychology (GGN), the Center for Materials Research (ZfM), and the Center for Applied Computer and Data Science (ZAD).
