Pilot project 5

The Schunk Group is an international technology group with more than 8,500 employees in 29 countries. The company is a leading supplier of products made from high-tech materials - such as carbon, technical ceramics and sintered metal - as well as machines and systems - from environmental simulation to air-conditioning technology and ultrasonic welding to optical machines. The Schunk Group achieved a turnover of 1.3 billion euros in 2018. A long-term orientation is essential for the Schunk Group. This was already given to it by Ludwig Schunk, who founded today's Schunk Group over a hundred years ago. Accordingly to his wish, the management of the company is to be kept in such a way that the healthy development and the maintenance of independence are in the foreground. The long-term goals of the Schunk Group derived from this: financial stability and independence, profitable growth and global presence. In the Schunk Carbon Technology division, components made from carbon, graphite, carbon fiber reinforced carbon (CFC), silicon carbide, aluminum oxide and quartz are developed and manufactured. Divided into different business units, Schunk Carbon Technology bundles its know-how according to the areas in which its products are used and market requirements.
