Origin Installation

In principle, two types of installation are possible within the scope of the license agreement: client installation (via network license) or single-user installation.

Installation

Single-user installation

The first time you start the program after installation, you will be prompted to register and create a license file. It is best to select the first option 'Get a license file now'. Your PC requires an active internet connection for this. After confirming twice with 'OK', a browser window opens with a login page from the manufacturer OriginLab.

Please log in here with your account or create a new user account if you have not already done so. Please be sure to use your university e-mail address as this is the only way to ensure that you are authorized to subscribe.

Please fill out the following form. You will then receive either by e-mail—or as a direct display on the screen—the individually generated license file in the form of a multi-line code. Please copy this code and paste it into the field provided for registration in your installed Origin version. This completes the licensing process.

Client installation (via network license)

The use of network licenses is particularly suitable for employee PCs within JLU. In this case, the license is not anchored directly on the computer, but is obtained dynamically from a license server. This means that the PC on which Origin is to be used must be connected to the JLU data network. HRZ administers the license server, which runs special license manager software. During installation, you will need a special serial number and the name or address of the license server. You will receive the serial number with the response to your activation request to HRZ license management. The address of the license server is Flexlm-origin.hrz.uni-giessen.de.

To have your PC activated, please send an e-mail with your name, function, institute and the IP address of your PC to software-manage. Be sure to use your official JLU e-mail address (which shows that you belong to an authorized department).
