Doctoral Short-Term Mobility

What can be funded?

Study period: 

Traineeship:

  • Independently organised internships relevant to the PhD
  • The host institution can be chosen freely, e.g. higher education institutions, research facilities or companies. Stays at EU institutions and those undertaken as part of EU projects are excluded.

 

Duration: 

  • 5-30 Days

 How much is the grant? 

  • PhD students receive €79 per day up to the 14th day of their stay. From days 15 to 30, the grant rate is €56 per day. One travel day is also covered in addition to the academic period. 
  • Participants who use low-emission modes of transport, such as buses, trains or carpooling, for more than half of their journeys can apply for up to 5 additional travel days for sustainable travel. 
  • PhD students who have fewer opportunities may receive a one-off top-up payment of €100 (for stays of 5-14 days) or €150 (for stays of 15-30 days).
  • In addition, participants receive a travel allowance.

Where are the application deadlines? 

  • Stays from January to March: 1 November 
  • Stays from April to June: 1 February 
  • Stays from July to September: 1 May
  • Stays from October to December: 1 August 

What are the selection criteria?

  • Completeness of the application documents 
  • Fulfilment of the formal criteria of the Erasmus+ doctoral short-term mobility 
  • Coherent explanation of how the stay abroad is relevant to the research project 
  • Maintenance of JLU's international partner network
  • Bonus point: Relevance to the priorities of the current Erasmus+ programme period — inclusion and diversity, digitalisation, sustainability and participation in democratic life
  • Previous participation in an Erasmus+ doctoral short-term mobility (first-time applicants will be given priority)
