Project funding from the Volkswagen Foundation: Museum Cases for Collection and Specimen Research - Focus on Provenance Research

The Volkswagen Foundation is funding the project Museum Cases for Collection and Specimen Research—Focus on Provenance Research, which is based at the JLU Collection Coordination Office, with 45,400 euros. The project is developing various museum cases on the subject of provenance research for school pupils. The materials are adapted to the Hessian school curricula and can be used directly by teachers without extensive preparation.

The cases are practical and support research-based learning. They teach the basics of provenance research, promote an understanding of collection contexts, and raise awareness of the question of how objects are presented in exhibitions and who owns cultural assets in the first place. The focus is always on democracy education.

Project manager: Dr. Alissa Theiss and Prof. Dr. Cornelia Weber

Student assistants: Lena Heinstadt, Uli Michael Hennig, Tessa Marquardt, and Anna Maria Spittler
