International Workshop

Democracies are shaken by multiple crises, from within and without, and face various authoritarian tendencies. Thus, democratic processes themselves are once again facing insecurity, especially today. The workshop will analyze these tendencies, question their causes, describe their forms and explore possible strategies for overcoming them.

We propose a series of roundtables, focused on different – but closely related – thematic complexes: I) causes of democracy’s multiple crises; II) forms of democratic insecurities; III) postcolonialism, neoliberalism, and insecurity; IV) the ambivalence of law in democracy; V) ways to overcome threats to democracy.
