Ph.D. Project

Optimized performance of parasitoid wasps (Hymenoptera Parasitica) against Drosophila suzukii: suitable species and technical aspects

My Ph.D. project is focused on the biological control of Drosophila suzukii through the application of parasitoids. Insemi-field trials and on berry farms, I test native pupal parasitoid species under different release schemes. Another part of my work is the search for new native parasitoid strains and non-native parasitoid species, which may have followed D. suzukii. In the process, I have reported the first detections of Leptopilina japonica in Germany.

I am an external Ph.D. student and work at the Julius Kühn Institute, Institute for Biological Control in Dossenheim, Germany, in the group ‘Beneficial Arthropods and Functional Biodiversity’ of Dr. Annette Herz. The work is conducted within the project ‘ParaDrosu’ (FKZ 2818805A19).
