Target group

Postdocs with limited or no prior experience in writing fellowship or grant proposals. As well as senior PhD students in their final year.

Requierements

  • Your Commitment: Participants are expected to draft mini-grant (structure of a generic grant will be provided after Workshop Confirmation) BEFORE the first seminar. Then finalise it within 9 days after the first seminar.
  • Mandatory participation in both webinars

Description

What You'll Learn: ✔ Understand different grant types and selection criteria ✔ Develop competitive research plans with clear impact ✔ Master the art of structuring "fundable" projects ✔ Create compelling research narratives that capture attention ✔ Learn to critique proposals like funding agencies 

Workshop Format

  1. Preparation (Essential!):
  • Draft the Summary, Objectives, State of the Art, and Experimental Plan of a grant/fellowship application
  1. First Webinar: - Foundations of effective grant writing (presentations + group discussions)
  2. Between Sessions (1 Week):
  • Complete/revise your assignment
  • Receive personalized feedback from the expert trainer
  1. Second Webinar:
  • Tackle grant-writing challenges
  • Explore advanced topics based on participant work

Trainer

Dr. A. Chapin Rodríguez (BSc, Duke University, USA; PhD, Cambridge University, UK) has conducted research at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (UK) and the Harvard Institutes of Medicine (USA). His research has been funded by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, the US National Institutes of Health, and the UK Medical Research Council. With over 17 years of experience as a consultant in science communication and publishing, Chapin has helped researchers in natural and clinical sciences publish manuscripts, prepare grant applications, and improve their presentation skills. He is the founder of Creaducate Consulting (www.creaducate.eu).
