Lecture by Dr. Birte Christ (JLU): “What happened to the glass ceiling? – Women, Power, Feminism and the Presidential Elections”
Classical women’s issues have been everywhere (abortion, #MeToo) since Trump’s 2016 election. 2017 and 2018 saw the first Women’s Marches and a boom in popular feminist manifestos. Kamala Harris became the first woman VP in 2021. But in 2024, what is the status of women (no x here) and feminism and political power? Apart from the Roe/Dobbs abortion issue, it seems clear that the culture wars have moved on to issues of sexual identity, but is this a win or a loss for women in politics?
