Short Biography
Mila Pavićević is a theorist, dramaturg, and author. She is a research associate at the Institute for Applied Theater Studies and works in the Master’s program in Choreography and Performance with Prof. Dr. Bojana Kunst. She holds a BA in Ancient Greek Language and Literature and Comparative Literature from the University of Zagreb and an MA in Dramaturgy from the Academy of Performing Arts in the same city.
From 2019 to 2023, she worked as a research associate in the Dance Studies program at Freie Universität Berlin on the Fritz Thyssen Foundation-funded project Dramaturgy and Choreography – New Formats in Contemporary Dance (with Jun.-Prof. Dr. Kirsten Maar). She is currently a doctoral candidate in the same department, researching dramaturgical practices from the former Yugoslavia during the historical transition period (1990–2015) and their contributions to Western contemporary dance.
Since 2012, she has worked as a dramaturg in Berlin’s independent dance scene, collaborating with various artists and curating events and festivals in Berlin and Croatia. Her essays, poems, and fiction have been published in multiple languages, and she won the European Union Prize for Literature in 2009 for her book Ice Girl and Other Fairytales.
Her research interests include the history of the Non-Aligned Movement, feminist dramaturgy, transdisciplinarity, and the temporality of institutions.
