Kurzbiografie
Livia Andrea Piazza (1986) has worked as a researcher and teacher at the Institute for Applied Theatre Studies in Giessen since 2019. Her position is attached to the Professorship for Artistic Practice, Prof. Dr. Xavier Le Roy. She studied Economics and Management of Art, Culture and Communication at Bocconi University in Milan (2008 - 2011) and in 2015, she completed a PhD in Cultural Sciences at Leuphana University in Lüneburg. Since 2018, she has been adjunct professor at Bocconi University. Outside of academia, she has engaged with platforms for collective research, such as Aleppo/Brussels and Critical Practice Made in YU, and has worked as an independent dramaturg, editor and writer. She has co-curated discursive and learning programmes at the Santarcangelo Festival (IT), the Homo Novus Festival (LV), DAS Theatre (NL) and PACT Zollverein (DE). At the institute, in addition to teaching and research, she is responsible for coordinating guest professors. Her current research and teaching focuses on artistic resurrections, particularly performances that shift this notion away from narratives of rebirth and eternal life, problematising return and remainders instead. Other topics of interest include the political economy of performance and art institutions. Livia Andrea Piazza lives in Brussels and in Giessen
