In recent years, it has not been possible to organise a network meeting for the group leaders of the BMBF NanoMatFutur and BattFutur junior research groups due to the coronavirus pandemic. This year the time had finally come and we were able to present our projects to each other, exchange ideas and network and get to know the PtJ and VDI staff in person. The event took place at the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) not far from the Chancellery in Berlin. |

48th International Conference and Expo on Advanced Ceramics and Composites (ICACC2024) Maren was able to present the results of the LeppleLab to the other conference participants in two invited talks. The conference also offered the opportunity to exchange ideas with other scientists and representatives from industry, to catch up with friends and acquaintances and to make new contacts. |

New research project in the Cluster of Excellence POLiS

The LeppleLab is represented in the Cluster of Excellence POLiS with a new research project. The aim of the project is to develop new inorganic cathode materials for multivalent battery concepts. As a starting point, we are investigating garnet structures as potential active materials for Mg batteries. |

We are glad about the funding of the BMBF FestBatt cluster project FB2-SAFE in cooperation with Prof. Zeier (University of Münster), Prof. Janek (JLU) as well as Prof. Gasteiger and Prof. Jossen (TU Munich). We will use thermoanalytical and calorimetric methods to investigate the safety of sulphide solid-state batteries.

| We are delighted that AG Lepple is continuing to grow with the addition of Alina Habermann. In her doctoral thesis, she will deal with ZrO2-based ceramics for use as thermal barrier coatings in gas turbines. The focus of her work is the thermodynamic investigation of the ZrO 2 -HfO 2 -Y 2 O 3 -Ta 2 O 5 material system. |
