Antonia Jungwirth

About me

Antonia Jungwirth completed her undergraduate studies in German Studies and Theatre, Film, and Media Studies at Goethe University Frankfurt. Subsequently, she studied acting at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Hamburg. She earned her Master's degree in Literature, Art, and Media Studies from the University of Konstanz.

Her professional career includes roles at esteemed german theaters, such as Staatstheater Mainz, Thalia Theater Hamburg, and Theater Konstanz, as well as performances in various film and television productions. Additionally, she gained valuable experience working in the editorial departments of Hessischer Rundfunk and Oetinger Verlag. Currently, she holds the position of co-curator for the exhibition "German Cinema Today: New Voices" at Deutsches Filminstitut & Filmmuseum Frankfurt.

Her research interests revolve around the intersection of high and popular culture, the dynamics of (gender) identities, and the intricacies of comedic expression. She is particularly dedicated to conducting a comprehensive analysis of the role of slapstick in the realm of cinematic art and exploring the complex interplay between "femininity" and humor.
