GGS Annual Conference 2020 - "Solidarity in Times of Crisis"
Save the Date: GGS-Conference “Solidarity in Times of Crisis”
Dear Colleagues, dear members of the GGS,
We are pleased to announce this year’s GGS-conference on the topic of “Solidarity in Times of Crisis”, which will take place on December 3rd and 4th. Despite the uncertainties and restrictions that the pandemic situation imposes upon us, the conference will take place on the planned dates – albeit in a different setting from what we originally planned. To ensure the possibility for as much interested people as possible and limit the traffic between different cities and countries, the biggest part of the conference will be carried out online. Everyone interested as well as many speakers can join via our online-tool. However, after the ‘long summer of isolation’ we plan to facilitate the opportunity for a limited number of GGS-members and some of the speakers to meet in Giessen – with an according safety concept and the rules of distancing applying.
In our conference, the various speakers will talk about the more than timely issue of theories as well as practices of solidarity. On December 3rd and 4th there will be two panels each day from 3 to 6 pm. In the evening, we will have a keynote lecture by José Medina (Northwestern University, Evanston) on December 3rd (7 – 8.30 pm) and an international and interdisciplinary Roundtable Discussion on December 4th (7 – 9 pm).
The detailed program and further information will follow soon via this channel and will be published on the website of the organizing section “Human Rights and Democracy”.
We are looking forward to seeing you there – on-site or online!
