Application via uni-assist
Please apply as early as possible via uni-assist because uni-assist’s processing may take some weeks.
Applications for a preparatory German intensive course may be handed in at any time via uni-assist.
Mandatory application documents (uni-assist):
When you apply at JLU via uni-assist, you must upload the following documents at minimum:
- Your school-leaving certificate and a translation of these documents; this may in some cases include a listing of the subject grades achieved in your last year of school and/or academic transcripts.
- The translations must be prepared by a certified translator (i.e., a person authorised to issue official translations in your home country).
- We accept documents in German and English. If your original transcripts were already issued in English or German, you do not need a translation.
- You can check anabin to see which documents are required for your specific case.
- If you apply for a Master's programme at JLU, you also need:
- A complete Transcript of Records.
- Your Bachelor's certificate.
- Translations of the documents by a certified translator (i.e., a person authorised to issue official translations in your home country).
- If your original certificates were already issued in English or German, you do not need a translation.
- Proof of language proficiency:
- Depending on the degree programme: German and/or English proof, or proof of skills in other foreign languages.
- Your ID document (passport, ID card, or similar):
- Your ID document must include at least your name, date of birth, and a passport photo.
- If applicable, further programme-specific documents.
- Please check the required documents for the study programme you are interested in; they are listed on the info page for the programme.
- The fee for your uni-assist application.
- Please also review the country-specific information provided by uni-assist.
Please note: Your application will only be processed after you have transferred the administrative fee to uni-assist's bank account and once you have matched the credit to your application request.
If you have applied via uni-assist and paid the processing fee to uni-assist, uni-assist will review your application regarding your formal eligibility. You can find their average processing times here: https://www.uni-assist.de/en/how-to-apply/apply-online/status-evaluation-result/. Once uni-assist has finished their review of your documents, they will notify you. If your application does not meet the requirements, it must unfortunately be rejected; if you have any questions about this, please contact uni-assist directly. If your application has been approved, uni-assist will forward your documents to JLU. We will then create an applicant account for you in the JLU application portal (GUDE) and will send you the login details as well as information on further steps.
If you hand in your complete application via uni-assist within the deadline, we consider it in time; uni-assist may forward your documents to JLU Giessen after the application deadline has passed.
If you believe that the result of the preliminary review by uni-assist is incorrect, please contact the JLU Admissions Office directly (international.admission). The final decision regarding admission or rejection is made by JLU Giessen.
