Funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the project IMPACCT seeks to increase the mobility of teacher training students of Primary Education with the Subject Islamic Religious Education in order to prepare them for the demands of diverse and heterogeneous classrooms. Thus, the project facilitates experiences abroad at six partner universities in Austria, Sweden, Switzerland and Turkey.
As part of the project, the virtual Summer School International, Intercultural, Interreligious: Perspectives on Islamic Religious Education from Austria, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland and Turkey connects scholars and students from the partner universities. It facilitates meaningful intercultural interaction as well as a scientific discussion about country-specific viewpoints on, didactic models and methods in Islamic Religious Education. Engaging lectures, workshops and extracurricular activities give students a chance to raise awareness about various issues relating to teaching religion in multiethnic environments and to get to know the partner universities. All in all, the Summer School contributes to the professionalisation of pre-service teachers by enhancing the students‘ intercultural, didactic, digital and language competencies.
