Information for embassies
On this page we provide essential information for embassies regarding the Master’s programmes M.Sc. Sustainable Chemistry and M.Sc. Advanced Materials at Justus Liebig University Giessen.
Physical Presence
The Master’s programmes M.Sc. Sustainable Chemistry and Advanced Materials are taught on campus and therefore require physical presence of the students. Students have to reside in Germany/Giessen to attend classes and practical courses as well as to pass examinations.

Status of Enrolment - Arrival Date
Students who are officially enrolled at Justus Liebig University Giessen / Germany in the Master’s programmes M.Sc. Sustainable Chemistry or M.Sc. Advanced Materials can start their studies after they have arrived in Giessen. The enrolment certificate is legally binding and confirms that the given student is officially enrolled in the respective degree programme.
Students who arrive later than the semester start do not drop out of the respective degree programme. Our course system allows an individual course timing. Faculty 08 provides individual counselling for international students on how to organize their studies after their arrival.
The Special Regulations of the Master’s programmes M.Sc. Sustainable Chemistry and M.Sc. Advanced Materials do not limit the study period to a certain number of semesters.
Language of Correspondence
Our entire administration system is set up in English. Therefore, all documents, e.g. admission, transcript of records, emails within the programmes are in English only.

Study Regulations of the Faculty 08 / Justus Liebig University
The binding regulations for the Master’s programme M.Sc. Sustainable Chemistry of Faculty 08 – Biology and Chemistry at Justus Liebig University Giessen are the Special Regulations of the programme.
Legally binding is the German version of the Special Regulations. The English version only serves for information purposes.
English Language
The Master’s programme M.Sc. Sustainable Chemistry is entirely taught in English (see § 2 (3) Aim of the degree programme).
All students who received admission to the Master’s degree programme meet the language prerequisites as defined in the Special Regulations (see § 5 Language requirements).
