Internships
Claudia Diehl
In 2014, Claudia Diel worked on the synthesis of "Macrocyclic Azobenzenes" as part of a study project in the group of professor Hermann A. Wegner.
Kathrin Michel
Kathrin Michel is studying chemistry in Giessen since 2010 and worked at the Wegner group in the context of an in-depth internship on a project regarding the size-selective synthesis of cycloparaphenylenes during her master studies in 2014.
Woldemar Niedenthal
Woldemar Niedenthal from Giessen (Germany) is a material science student and worked in the context of a study project on the "Synthesis of novel diazatriphenylene derivatives and investigation of their physical properties" in the Wegner group.
Andreas Heindl internship
Andreas Heindl from Freienfels near Weilburg (Hessen) joined the Wegner group for his Bachelor thesis during which he synthesized air stable pyridazine-Lewis acid complexes and investigated their properties. Starting from WS 2015/16, he will be working on a synthesis for oligoazobenzophanes.
Andre Blösser internship
André Blößer was born 1990 in Königstein, Germany. He received his bachelor degree at the Justus Liebig university with his thesis "Synthesis and reactivity of [12]Cycloparaphenylene" in 2014. He was investigating domino-type Diels-Alder reactions during WS 2014/15 in the context of an internship.
Sebastian Beeck internship
Sebastian Beeck from Villmar near Limburg a. d. Lahn started his studies of chemistry at the Justus-Liebig university after he finished an apprenticeship as laboratory assistant in Frankfurt/Höchst. In March 2016 he joined the Wegner group for an internship which is now followed by his Master thesis. Currently he is working on the synthesis of substituted Cycloparaphenylenes.
Felix Pfanschilling internship
Felix Pfanschilling from Münchholzhausen near Wetzlar joined the Wegner group in october 2016 for an internship, during which he synthesized several anthraquinone derivatives. The aim of the project was to find optimized structures for the potential use in redox flow batteries.
Julia Ruhl internship
Julia Ruhl from Lich near Giessen joined the Wegner group for her Bachelor thesis in May 2016 for which she synthesized phthalazine derivatives and investigated their application in catalyzed inverse electron demand Diels-Alder reactions. She is now working on synthesis and characterisation of B,N-acenes during her internship.
Jan Griwatz internship
Jan Griwatz from Hungen near Gießen joined the Wegner group for his Bachelor thesis in 2016 during which he synthesized quinone-derivatives via bidentate Lewis acid catalyzed inverse electron-demand Diels-Alder reactions. In August 2017, he started an internship, during which he will work on developing a flow-assisted CPP synthesis.
Janis Siedentopf internship
Janis Siedentopf from Kassel in northern Hesse studied chemistry in Marburg. After receiving his Bachelor degree, he started his studies of material science at the Justus-Liebig university Giessen. In September 2017, he began an internship in the Wegner group, during which he worked on a synthesis towards dibenzo[f,h]phthalazine.
Daniel Kohrs internship
During his internship, Daniel Kohrs from Holzminden in Lower Saxony is currently working in the Wegner group on a research project with the aim to investigate and optimize new synthetic pathways for substituted cycloparaphenylenes.
Jannis Volkmann internship
In october 2018, Jannis Volkmann from Langgoens near Giessen joined the Wegner group during his internship to investigate and optimize new synthetic pathways for substituted cycloparaphenylenes.
